The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic news of the demise of senior journalist Hari Lamsal at the age of 78 while undergoing treatment. Lamsal, who had been suffering from a respiratory-related illness for a long time, passed away on the morning of Ashoj 17, 2083, at HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu.

Having been active in the journalism sector for more than five decades, Lamsal was most recently the Editor-in-Chief of Rastravani Weekly. A resident of Budhanilkantha Municipality–10, Lamsal is survived by two sons, Bikash Lamsal and Bishal Lamsal, who are also journalists.

The mortal remains of the late Lamsal were cremated today at Pashupati Aryaghat in accordance with religious traditions. Prior to the cremation, office-bearers and members of the FNJ Central Committee, along with journalists and media professionals present, paid their last respects to his mortal remains.

Lamsal, a former president of the FNJ Kathmandu Chapter, had played an active role in every campaign undertaken for the rights and interests of Nepali journalism and working journalists. His demise is a loss to the Nepali journalism sector, which has lost a capable, experienced and mature journalist, while the FNJ has lost an active guardian.

The FNJ pays heartfelt tribute to the late Lamsal and wishes eternal peace to his departed soul. The FNJ also extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, including Bikash and Bishal, and wishes them strength to endure this difficult hour.
