The Federation of Nepali Journalists has drawn its attention to the incident of police constable Devendra Yadav misbehaving with Saurabh Yadav of Naya Patrika daily on the pretext of taking a photo.

On Magh 18, the Madhesh Province Committee of the Federation has stated that the police took journalist Yadav under control for 15 minutes while taking a photo of him taking money from a businessman in front of the Rajbiraj Customs Office in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-1 of Saptari district.

The Federation has considered this behavior by the police against journalists in the course of performing their professional duties as a highly condemnable anti-press step. The Federation demands that the concerned bodies prevent such incidents from recurring in the coming days and take action against the culprits.
