The Federation of Nepali Journalists has drawn attention to the attack on journalist Arjun Acharya, who is engaged in media work, by members of the Youth Volunteer Force close to the UML.

The Federation Morang branch has stated that Acharya was injured when he was attacked in Kamala Rural Municipality, Jhapa, while collecting news related to the election on February 14.

This attack, which took place in the course of performing his professional duties, is highly condemnable and an attack on the exercise of press freedom.

The Federation draws the attention of the concerned bodies to immediately bring those involved in the attack to justice and to create an environment where journalists can engage in unhindered and safe practice.

And, wishes the injured journalist a speedy recovery.
