The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has announced further pressure-oriented protest programs for the repeal of the government's discriminatory and arbitrary decision regarding information and advertisements, the protection of the constitutional rights of the press, the initiation of constitutional amendment by forming an all-party task force from the Parliament itself, and the guarantee of uninterrupted consumption of information.

The programs scheduled from Jestha 25 to Ashar 5 are as follows:

  • Jestha 25, 2083 at 11:00 AM: Signatures collected by all structures of the Federation will be submitted to the Prime Minister through all Chief District Officers.

  • Jestha 27 and 29, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Two days): Sit-ins will be staged at all District Administration Offices under the leadership of the district chapters.

  • Ashar 1 and 3, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Two days): Sit-ins will be staged at all Chief Minister's Offices under the leadership of the provincial committees of the Federation.

  • Ashar 5: A massive solidarity rally will be organized in Kathmandu by the Central Committee, featuring professional organizations and stakeholders.

The Federation has been in a phased protest demanding the repeal of the discriminatory circular issued by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Chaitra 18, 2082, which deprives private media of government advertisements and notices from all levels.

As the government has shown no sign of addressing the demands despite two months of continuous pressure and initiatives, a compelling situation has been created for the Federation to continue the movement.

The Federation heartily appeals to all stakeholders for their active participation in the movement.

Additionally, the Federation expresses its sincere gratitude to journalists, media houses, and all stakeholders for the support, cooperation, and solidarity received in previous protests.
