Date: June 15, 2026

The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has drawn its serious attention to the misbehavior directed at journalist Binod Dhungana by Krishna Raj Pandit, the Mayor of Shuklagandaki Municipality, Tanahun.

According to the Tanahun Branch of the Federation, journalist Dhungana was subjected to abusive and insulting behavior when he enquired about a statement made by Mayor Pandit at the Hatbazar in Belchautara on June 14 (Jeth 31).

While journalists should be supported in fulfilling their duty to inform the public, this act—committed by a responsible local representative without any regard for official dignity is viewed by the Federation as highly condemnable, irresponsible, and an attack on press freedom.

The Federation demands that the relevant authorities investigate the incident, take legal action against the perpetrator, and ensure that such actions against the press are not repeated in the future.
