The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has drawn its attention to the incident where journalist Devram Yadav was assaulted by a group of individuals, including Surendra Yadav, in Mahadeva Rural Municipality, Saptari.

According to the Saptari chapter, journalist Yadav, who works for the Gorkhapatra Daily, was injured when he was suddenly struck with a helmet on June 20 (Asar 6) over a news report.

If there were grievances regarding the news, resorting to physical assault instead of seeking remedies through established legal procedures is highly condemnable and anti-press freedom.

The Federation demands that the concerned authorities investigate the incident, take legal action against the culprits, and create a safe environment for journalists to practice their profession.
