The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has serious concerns regarding the pressure and threats directed at journalist Dhanraj Saud by Tek Bahadur Saud, the Chairman of Bannigadhi Jayagadh Rural Municipality in Achham, demanding that the journalist disclose his news source.

According to the Achham Branch of the Federation, Chairman Saud summoned journalist Dhanraj—who also serves as the Secretary of the FNJ Sudurpashchim Province Committee—to his office on June 25 and subjected him to such behavior.

The Federation strongly condemns this disgraceful and anti-free press act by a responsible public representative, who, instead of seeking a lawful remedy for any grievances regarding the news, resorted to threatening a journalist.

The Federation demands that the concerned authorities investigate the incident and take appropriate action against the perpetrator.
