The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is deeply shocked and grieved by the tragic news of the untimely demise of Keshav Parajuli, President of the FNJ Nawalparasi West Branch. He passed away at the age of 56 while undergoing treatment at Prithvichandra Hospital in Parasi.
According to the branch office, the senior journalist, who had been battling cancer, passed away on Saturday morning, July 4 (Ashadh 20). The late Parajuli is survived by his mother, wife, and two daughters.
Parajuli, who previously served as the branch's Secretary and Treasurer, first became the President of the FNJ Nawalparasi Branch in 2004 (2061 BS) and was elected to the post for a second time in 2024 (2081 BS).
Having started his active journalism career in Nawalparasi nearly four decades ago with the Matribhumi Weekly, Parajuli played a pivotal role in Radio Parasi and Parasipatra Weekly. He had also worked with various media outlets, including Radio Nepal, Radio Lumbini, Janasangharsha, and Tinau FM. Furthermore, he was associated with Dainik Lumbini—a daily newspaper registered in Nawalparasi and published from Butwal since 1988 (2045 BS)—and remained actively engaged with it until his passing.
With his demise, the Nepali journalism sector has lost an able, experienced, fearless, and skilled journalist, while the Federation has lost an active and honest member.
The Federation offers its heartfelt tributes to the late Parajuli and prays for the eternal peace of the departed soul. We also extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family members during this hour of grief, praying for their strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
