The Federation of Nepali Journalists has drawn its attention to the apathy shown by the Communication Registrar's Office under the Bagmati Province Government regarding the renewal of online media and journalists' press passes.

According to the Bagmati Province Committee of the Federation, the renewal process for 327 online media outlets and journalists' press passes has not started even as the new fiscal year 2083/84 is about to begin.

The Federation maintains that the failure to renew online media and press passes registered under provincial law violates the constitutional provision that media outlets shall not be closed, and infringes upon press freedom.

The Federation expresses its objection to the apathy shown by the provincial government regarding the uninterrupted operation of media outlets and the renewal of press passes. And, the Federation strongly demands that the renewal process be started as soon as possible.
