The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has drawn its attention to the incident where Jagat Bahadur Bholan, Chairman of Ghyanglek Rural Municipality in Sindhuli, filed a complaint against journalist Buddha Nepali, expressing dissatisfaction over a published news report.

According to the FNJ Sindhuli Branch, the complaint was lodged at the District Administration Office, Sindhuli, regarding a news report published on July 23 (Saun 7) concerning the return of a vehicle.

Instead of seeking a solution through established legal procedures if dissatisfied with a news report, the step taken by a responsible public representative to criminalize the subject matter of the news is strongly condemned by the Federation.

The FNJ urges the concerned authority to respect the rights and domain of the press guaranteed by the Constitution, cautioning against the repetition of such actions in the future, and demands that issues related to news content not be criminalized.
