Date: August 11, 2026

The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is deeply shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of Mira Rajbhandari Amatya, a former central account committee member of the Federation. According to family sources released on Saun 25 (August 9), Ms. Rajbhandari, who was recently residing in the United States, passed away a few months ago during medical treatment. Having contributed to journalism for over two decades, Ms. Rajbhandari actively wrote on social and cultural affairs. She particularly advocated and raised awareness on the culture, religion, and social issues of the Newar community through her articles and writings.

She served as a member of the FNJ Central Account Committee from 2074/05/06 to 2077/12/25 (B.S.). Always playing a leading role in addressing issues concerning women journalists, Ms. Rajbhandari's passing represents a great loss to Nepalese journalism, which has lost a fearless, experienced, and dedicated female journalist, and to the Federation, which has lost an active member.

The Federation offers its heartfelt tributes to the late Rajbhandari and prays for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Furthermore, in this moment of grief, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, praying that they find the strength to bear this loss.
