Press Release
The Federation of Nepali Journalists has drawn the attention of the Federation of Nepali Journalists to the misbehavior meted out to journalist Sameer Joshi and camera person Amrit Bhatta when they reached The British College in Thapathali, Kathmandu, to collect news.
The Federation's Independent News Service Branch has stated that security guards surrounded a journalist from Nepal Lead.com who had reached the college to collect news about a student being sent to Dubai as a worker for a high fee, and prevented him from leaving the college premises, obstructing his media work.
Instead of helping journalists who are engaged in their professional duties, this behavior, which was done on the orders of the college administration, is condemnable and anti-press. The Federation draws the attention of the concerned parties to prevent such behavior from recurring in the future and to respect press freedom.
