The Federation of Nepali Journalists is seriously concerned about the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21 to end the youth rebellion. Since there is a possibility of influencing voters through false information during the election, the Federation urges the mass media and journalists to pay special attention to the principles of journalism and the journalistic code of conduct.

There is no doubt that the mass media and journalists have an important role to play in creating an environment where healthy, free, and peaceful elections can be held by adhering to the principles of journalism and the code of conduct and exercising freedom of the press and expression. It is well known that the entire media sector is playing and has been playing an important role in this regard.
As the election day approaches, the Federation is concerned about the complaints that some online media, social media, and YouTube are not paying attention to the observance of the journalistic code of conduct and the election code of conduct when ideas, propaganda, and news are being circulated.

The Federation has drawn its attention to the comments received regarding the election results of Chitwan Constituency No. 3, which was estimated by Setopati Online on 2082.11.03 and the news published under the title of election on 4th, which are in violation of the election code of conduct and the journalistic code of conduct.

The Federation also expresses its objection to the trolling of the editor-in-chief of the said online, Amit Dhakal, on social media, while parties who disagree with the content of the media can seek a solution according to the law. The Federation urges the concerned parties to avoid repeating such incidents in the future.

In addition, the Federation also calls on all media outlets and media personnel to publish and broadcast their materials in full compliance with the election code of conduct and the journalistic code of conduct.
