२०८२ फाल्गुण १६

February 28, The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) organized an orientation program on “Election Reporting, Journalists’ Code of Conduct, and Responsible Use of Social Media” in preparation for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026 (Falgun 21, 2082).

The program was specifically designed for journalists working in digital media, recognizing their critical role in ensuring a free, fair, and responsible electoral environment. During the sessions, participants were encouraged to strictly adhere to the Journalists’ Code of Conduct to maintain credibility and uphold professional standards. Emphasis was placed on ethical journalism as a fundamental responsibility and a mark of respect toward the profession.

The first orientation program was held in the Kathmandu Valley on February 20, 2026, with significant participation from young journalists actively engaged in online media. Subsequently, the program was expanded to all seven provinces, where experts from the FNJ Central Office conducted training sessions in coordination with provincial and district branches.

Following the central and provincial-level orientations, district branches further disseminated the knowledge to local journalists. This nationwide initiative has been successfully completed, benefiting more than three thousand journalists across the country.
